OCD Therapy in Coventry & Online
Quiet the cycle of obsessions and compulsions. Reclaim your peace of mind.
Living with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) can feel exhausting. Intrusive thoughts circle endlessly. Compulsions take over daily life. Even when you know the fears don’t make sense, they still feel overwhelming.
OCD isn’t about being “a bit neat” or liking things in order. It’s about the relentless loop of anxiety, fear, and the need for control.
But here’s the truth: OCD doesn’t define you — and healing is possible.
Is OCD Therapy Right for You?
-
OCD can look different for everyone. Common patterns include:
Intrusive, unwanted thoughts (often violent, sexual, or fearful)
Repetitive behaviours or rituals to “neutralise” the thoughts (washing, checking, counting)
Needing constant reassurance from others
Feeling responsible for preventing harm
Avoiding certain places, people, or situations that trigger obsessions
A constant feeling of “not enough” — never being fully certain or satisfied
Even when part of you knows the thoughts aren’t true, the urge to “do something about them” feels impossible to resist.
-
Therapy provides tools to break the cycle of obsession → anxiety → compulsion. Together, we work to:
Understand the root of your obsessions and compulsions
Learn how to face intrusive thoughts without becoming trapped in them
Reduce the anxiety that fuels compulsive behaviours
Heal deeper wounds of shame, guilt, or fear that often sit beneath OCD
Rebuild a sense of safety, trust, and freedom in your daily life
Instead of being ruled by fear and rituals, you can learn to live with more calm and choice.

My approach is trauma-informed, gentle, and practical. Depending on your needs, I may integrate:
EMDR Therapy — to reprocess traumatic or stuck memories that fuel intrusive fears
Counselling — to explore the emotions beneath compulsions and build healthier coping tools
NLP & Coaching tools — to challenge rigid thought loops and strengthen self-trust
Mind-body techniques — to regulate the nervous system and reduce anxiety triggers

Case Story 1 – Religious Obsessions (Scrupulosity)
Hassan (not their real name) struggled with intrusive religious thoughts. He feared that every minor mistake or impure thought meant he was “sinful” and would be punished. This led to constant prayer repetition, seeking reassurance from family, and hours spent in rituals that never brought peace.
In therapy, we used EMDR to process the root fears that kept fueling these thoughts, alongside cognitive and grounding techniques. Over time, the obsessive loop began to loosen. Hassan was able to engage with his faith from a place of love and meaning — not fear and compulsion.
Case Story 2 – Cleaning Compulsions
Rachel (not their real name) felt overwhelmed by contamination fears. She spent hours each day cleaning, washing, and sanitising — to the point it disrupted her work and relationships. Even though she knew her rituals were excessive, the anxiety felt unbearable if she resisted them.
Through EMDR and resourcing, Rachel gradually reprocessed early memories of feeling unsafe and “unclean.” We also worked with exposure techniques in small, safe steps. Over time, she reduced her rituals, gained confidence, and found more freedom in her daily life.
Case Story 3 – Relationship OCD (ROCD)
Tom (not their real name) was in a loving relationship, but his mind wouldn’t stop doubting. “Do I really love her? What if she’s not the right one? What if I’m making a huge mistake?” These obsessive doubts led to endless checking — Googling, asking friends for reassurance, and mentally reviewing every interaction.
In therapy, we focused on reprocessing the fear of making “wrong choices” rooted in childhood experiences of harsh criticism. EMDR helped ease the intensity of intrusive doubts, while mindfulness tools supported Tom in tolerating uncertainty without compulsions. Over time, he was able to feel more present in his relationship and less consumed by endless “what ifs.”
